James Bennett

James specializes in family law and is the head of the family law team at Rogerson Law Group. His practice involves divorce applications, complicated property divisions, child and spousal support issues, parenting time and decision-making responsibility issues, alternative dispute resolution, negotiated separation agreements and litigating family law matters in family court.

James has been praised by clients for his ability to confidently guide and advise them while also exhibiting compassion during sensitive circumstances.

He has worked in family law firms in Brampton, Oshawa, and Thunder Bay before joining Rogerson Law Group in Barrie.

James is a husband and father of a young family. When time permits, he plays guitar and bass. In a previous life, he was a musician, playing at many of Toronto’s storied live music venues, including The Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, and El Mocambo.

Education

James graduated with an Honours degree in Political Science and Philosophy of Law, with a certificate in Law and Social Thought from Glendon College and thereafter obtained his Juris Doctor degree. James served as Managing Editor of his university’s law journal, publishing two issues.

James is a member of the Limited Scope Family Law Services project and offers a wide range of family law legal services, from full scope family law representation to unbundled and limited scope representation and document preparation, to legal coaching.
